New to 2017, the Nelson Kayak and Canoe Club is offering....
SPEND THE SUMMER ON THE WATER
These active camps are designed for children between the ages of 8 - 16+. Develop kayaking and canoeing skills, make active friends, and have fun on the water!
- Weekly camps run through July and August
- 4 hour long camps - 9:00 am to 1:00 pm - Monday to Friday
- $150 per week, but only $130 for returning campers!

Sprint Racing Team
The Sprint Team is led by former Canadian Olympian kayak athlete Jason Rusu. Ever since his first paddle on the west arm of Kootenay Lake Jason knew that Nelson is one of the best locations to support a sprint racing canoe and kayak program in the country.
Sprint team training is in progress, stay tuned for an update soon! The team meets at the Nelson Rowing Pavilion, at Lakeside Park in Nelson, BC.
Monday and Wednesday: 4:30pm - 6pm
Saturday 10am - 12pm
Practice is always held at the Rowing Pavillion, at Lakeside Park in Nelson, BC.
Sprint Program Registration:
Program Fees: $300.00 from May 1st to September 28th - that's a lot of sessions for your money! Not all sessions are mandatory, however athletes benefit from participating in as many of the practices as possible.
A ten Session Punch-Pass is available for $90 for paddlers who can only commit to 10 or fewer sessions.

Shoulder season paddling requires appropriate cold water immersion apparel.
Example of appropriate clothing for spring paddling is:
- lycra tights/leggings with a loose fit over shorts
- polypropylene long sleeve underwear
- lighter shirt
- light windbreaker
- water shoes/flip flops
- change of clothes/warm up clothes

Wednesday evenings from 6:30 – 8:30 pm
Head Coach, Lauren Heckley, and our Junior Coaches will provide kayak and canoe instruction, stroke improvement and an opportunity to try our racing boats. A safety boat will be on the water during this program.
Costs: NKCC yearly membership ($15)
Kayak BC Insurance ($9)
Bring your own boat: 5 punch passes ($35)
Try our club boats: 5 punch passes ($60)
Masters Paddling Program!
The Nelson Kayak and Canoe Club will be offering a Masters program for beginner to advanced paddlers!
— LETS GET OUTSIDE —
This Masters (adult) Paddling Program is designed to challenge beginner to advanced paddlers, with an emphasis on developing aerobic fitness and improving technique.
Why join this program?
- Develop kayak and canoe technique, in your boat or ours
- Increase aerobic fitness and strength
- Set, and acheive, paddling goals
- Get onto Nelson’s beautiful Kootenay Lake with friends!
Thursday Evenings – 6:00 – 7:00 pm (Technique) 7:00 – 8:00 pm (Toonie Tour - paddle or race the set course, optional)
